Reading Alice Fulton's Poetry:  A Gathering of the Emily Dickinson Museum Poetry Discussion Group, the Emily Dickinson Reading Circle, and the EDIS (Amherst Chapter) Poetry Conversation

Time:  2-4 p.m.
Location:  Jones Library (Amherst Room), 43 Amity Street, Amherst
Fee:  None

Join us for an advance look at Alice Fulton's poetry in preparation for her reading for the Emily Dickinson Museum on Saturday, November 12 at 3 p.m.  The gathering will include members of three Dickinson reading/discussion groups based in the Pioneer Valley, but all are welcome!  Pre-registration is requested to insure seating; contact Nan Fischlein at nfischlein@emilydickinsonmuseum.org.

Each Dickinson group--the Emily Dickinson Museum Poetry Discussion Group; the Emily Dickinson Reading Circle, led by Margaret Freeman and based in Heath, Mass.; and the EDIS (Amherst Chapter) Poetry Conversation, coordinated by Lois Kackley--meets monthly to talk about Dickinson's poetry.  The November 4 meeting marks the first time that the three groups have met together.

Margaret Freeman will facilitate the discussion.  She will begin with excerpts from scholar Cristanne Miller and from Alice Fulton herself about Fulton's engagement with Dickinson's poetry. From there, the group will look at some of Fulton's own poetry and consider the ways in which Dickinson has influenced her as a poet.

Refreshments will be served.
