Time: 10 am - noon
Location: Amherst Woman's Club, 35 Triangle Street, Amherst
Fee: $20 ($18 for Friends of the Emily Dickinson Museum)

In this workshop led by Gorgeous Nothings editors Jen Bervin and Marta Werner, explore how Dickinson used the envelope as a rich formal space for poetic composition and make your own experiential discoveries by exploring her very simple material vocabulary: envelope forms, cuts, folds, seals, stamps, postmarks, pens, pencils, and erasers. Together, participants will look closely at some of the Emily Dickinson manuscripts published in The Gorgeous Nothings: Emily Dickinson's Envelope-Poems (Granary Books 2012) to consider questions of address, crossed messages, missed messages, and messages that hit their mark.
Because space is limited, pre-registration is required. Contact Valerie Gramling, program coordinator, at vgramling@emilydickinsonmuseum.org or 413-542-2034. Upon confirmation of registration, you will receive advance reading materials; studio materials will be provided on-site.
