November 2 Arts Night Plus

About Arts Night Plus at the Museum:

The Emily Dickinson Museum participates in Amherst Arts Night Plus on first Thursdays each month. Each month enjoy a pop-up art exhibit from 5 to 8 pm.  Open mic signups are from 5 to 6 pm, with the open mic beginning at 6 pm and featured reader Tara Jean Bernier to follow. Free and open to all!

About guest artists at the Emily Dickinson Museum: Please note that the works of guest artists may contain sensitive or mature material and do not necessarily represent the views of the Emily Dickinson Museum.

November 2017 Arts Night:

As we welcome the month of Thanksgiving, enjoy a slice of the apple harvest from the newly reinstated Dickinson family orchard. Try the varieties grown at the Homestead and learn about 19th century apple-growing from Museum volunteer Francis Martin. You'll also get to cast your vote to name the varietal from a historic tree that has born fruit for the first time in years under Francis' care. Will it be Sweet Emily, Dickinson Sweeting, or Amherst Sweet? Help us decide!

Featured Artist: Students of the Springfield High School of Science and Technology

Featured Poet: Tara Jean Bernier walked into an open mic in August of 2012, and never left. Since January of 2013 she has co-hosted the weekly Northampton Poetry open mic and slam, and is mama of a Kai and Keegan. She is not above using their antics as source material for her work. Not coincidentally, her piece, “Give me my ‘A’ in Scarlet”, included in The Seal Press anthology, The Good Mother Myth, is about them.
