While the Emily Dickinson Museum is responsible for raising its own funds for programs, operations and capital projects, it is owned by the Trustees of Amherst College. The Museum operates under the College’s federal tax identification number and IRS 501(c)(3) designation: #04-2103542. Checks can be made out to the Emily Dickinson Museum.

Sustained Giving

A recurring gift makes your gift to the Museum easy and convenient. Credit cards can be charged monthly, quarterly or annually. Signing up is as easy as checking the recurring giving box on our donation form. We can also help you set this up by calling or emailing our office.

Gifts in honor, celebration, or in memory

Honor, celebrate, or remember someone special through a gift to the Emily Dickinson Museum. We will inform the family or person of your thoughtful gift.

Matching Gifts

Your company may match your gift. Guidelines and amounts vary by company. Please check with your employer to see if they match charitable contributions.

Qualified Charitable Donations

If you are 71 ½ or older, you can support the Museum by directing a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA directly to the museum, allowing the donation to count toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) without increasing your taxable income. This method benefits both you and the museum by providing immediate financial support while reducing your tax liability. To initiate your gift, simply contact your IRA Administrator and ask them to make the check out to the Emily Dickinson Museum and send your gift to:

Donor-Advised Fund

As a steadfast supporter of the Emily Dickinson Museum, you know that simple gestures can have lasting power. One of the most effective ways to make a meaningful impact is through a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF).

A DAF gift is simple, flexible, and tax efficient. It allows you to recommend grants to the organizations you care about on a timeline that works for you—bringing stability and support to the Museum and Emily Dickinson’s enduring legacy.

How to Give from Your DAF:
